Sometimes Knowing What’s Wrong Isn’t The Same as Knowing How to Change It.

I’m Glad You’re Here.

By the time most people reach out for therapy, they’ve already spent a lot of time trying to make things better on their own. You may understand what isn’t working, but still feel unsure about how to change it. Sometimes we simply need a different perspective, the right support, and a place to sort through what’s getting in the way.

I’ve spent more than 20 years helping adults, couples, teens, children, and families work through the challenges that can leave them feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what to do next.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come in. That’s what we can work on together.

Why Work With Andrea Schoon Therapy

Therapy isn't about having all the answers. It's about taking the time to understand what's happening, gaining new perspective, and finding practical ways to move forward.

I'm Andrea D. Schoon, MA, LMFT, and I've spent 18 years in private practice, after nearly two decades working in almost every setting where children, families, and adults receive support: preschools, residential treatment, public schools, autism services, and sober living.

My approach is warm, direct, and practical. I listen, but I also name patterns when they need naming, and I keep the work focused on what actually helps.

How To Get Started With Therapy

Sessions are in person at either the Huntington Beach or Newport Beach office, or virtually anywhere in California. Child sessions are in person; parent consultations can be virtual or in person.

Call or email the office

A complimentary 15-minute phone consultation is the first step, and Andrea responds within one business day.

Talk it through

The consultation is a chance to describe what's going on and ask questions before scheduling.

First session

Spend time getting to know each other, talk through what brought you in, and start building a plan together.

Questions Before You Reach Out

What is therapy like with you?

Sessions with me are warm, direct, and practical. I focus on understanding the pattern behind what you're struggling with and helping you build tools you can use in everyday life, not just talking through the same issue every week.

Am I a good fit for your practice?

I tend to be a good fit if you're ready to look honestly at your own part in a pattern and want practical tools alongside understanding. I'm probably not the right fit if you're looking for someone to simply agree with you, or to talk without working toward a goal.

Do you only work with adults, or with kids and teens too?

I work with children as young as four, teens, adults, couples, and families, all in one practice. That means I can be there for your child now, and still be here for your marriage or your teenager later, without you having to start over with someone new.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes. I see clients in person at my Huntington Beach and Newport Beach offices, and virtually anywhere in California. Child therapy is in person only, though parent consultations can be virtual or in person.

What happens in our first session?

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other, talk through what brought you in, and start building a plan together. For couples and families, it also means I hear from each person and we find shared goals.

Whenever you're ready, I'm here.

If you're ready to talk, I'd love to hear from you. Call 714-421-6115 or email andreaschoon@gmail.com, and let's set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation to see if we're a good fit. I respond within one business day.
