FAQs
Fees & Insurance
What payment options do you accept?
I'm private pay, and I don't bill insurance directly. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill so you can seek reimbursement.
Can I claim therapy with my insurance policy?
I don't bill insurance directly, but many clients use the superbills I provide to seek reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. It's worth checking with your insurance provider about your specific plan.
Scheduling & Logistics
How do I schedule an appointment with you?
Call or email the office to set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation. I respond within one business day.
Do you meet for in-person therapy?
Yes, and I believe in-person is often best. That said, I also offer virtual sessions anywhere in California if that works better for you. The exception is child therapy, which I offer in person only, though parent consultations can be virtual or in person.
How often do we need to meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, and we adjust the frequency as you make progress and your needs change.
How long does the therapy process take?
There's no fixed timeline. It depends on what you're working through and what you want out of it. Some people work with me for a few months around a specific issue, others for longer as new things come up.
Getting Started
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you've tried everything and nothing's really working, that's usually a sign therapy could help. You don't need a crisis or a diagnosis to benefit from it.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for me?
The best way to know is to talk. That's what the complimentary 15-minute consultation is for, a low-pressure conversation to see if we're a good fit before you commit to anything.
What do we discuss on the consultation call?
On our initial call, we'll talk through what's bringing you to therapy and what you're hoping to get out of it. It's a chance to share a little about your situation and ask any questions before we schedule a first session.
What can I expect at the first session?
The first session is about gaining some history and understanding what's going on, and building the foundation we'll work from together. It's also where we start establishing trust, since that matters more than anything else in this work.
